Katelyn Jenkins
Coach Katelyn grew up in Bellevue, Washington, and played water polo all through high school. She then played four years at the University of Redlands. She has been coaching since 2017 and has the unique perspective of having started her athletic career as a goalie before transitioning to playing in the field. Her first coaching experience was at a rec league during her college summers. After she graduated, she coached at Sand Canyon Water Polo Club in Yucaipa. She was an assistant coach at her alma mater (University of Redlands) in 2022 and joined the Patrick Henry High School coaching team in 2023.
In addition to coaching, Katelyn is a Kayak Guide in La Jolla Shores. She is very into fitness and spending time outdoors, and loves swimming, running, and yoga. She is passionate about marine science and hopes to pursue a related career. She also loves to cook and try new creative hobbies. She has a cat named Steven and hopes to add a dog to her family soon!
Coach Katelyn’s advice for young athletes:
“Never stop learning and growing! Don’t be afraid to make mistakes, ask questions, and be confident in your abilities. Embrace the ups and downs you will face over the years of this sport; they will be the most rewarding experiences of your life!”
