Meet Tim Reed: A Visionary Leader in Aquatics

Tim Reed has spent over three decades inspiring young athletes to achieve greatness in and out of the water. From founding transformative programs to coaching championship teams, Tim’s passion for aquatics has shaped the lives of countless players and elevated the sport of water polo. His journey began in Southern California, where he launched South County Aquatics in 1991, growing it into a thriving program serving over 1,000 athletes. At Bonita Vista High School, he started the school’s first girls’ water polo team, doubling participation and leading the program to multiple league titles and a CIF Runner-Up finish. Recognized as a five-time Metro League Coach of the Year, Tim’s innovative approach set new standards for high school aquatics.

In 1999, Tim founded PNW United in Washington State, building it into a nationally recognized club with over 100 athletes, producing more than 50 collegiate players, and earning a Junior Olympics silver medal. His expertise caught the attention of USA Water Polo, where, as an assistant coach for the Men’s Junior National Team, he contributed to multiple international successes, including two Pan American
Championship titles.

Now the Program Director for San Diego Shores Water Polo Club, Tim oversees the region’s largest age-group program, guiding athletes toward CIF championships, collegiate success, and beyond. His legacy is defined not just by trophies but by the personal growth and opportunities he fosters in every athlete he mentors.
